Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon,
Merlot and Petit Verdot
32 hectares (79 acres) of 30-year-old vines
growing in deep Garonne gravel beds.
Mechanically harvested when the fruit is optimally ripe.
It is sorted with optical screening equipment.
Fermented in coated concrete tanks equipped
with temperature control. The winemaking techniques,
pumping over, rack and return are used according
to the needs of the vintage and the fruit.
Multilayered, elegant nose.
Lovely structure on the palate with fleshy
tannins and a long finish.

Light crimson. Very brisk, glossy fruit. Could be quite a charmer in the short term. Good value.

Dark and glossy hue and a smoke nose. The texture on the palate is very convincing, very broad, with finely polished cherry and blackcurrant fruit, a fine grip, a beautifully ripe tannic structure and precise frame. This is really promising, showing a classic style combined with confidence

Generally a St.-Julien/Pauillac-like offering, the 2009 Lanessan seems more explosive and concentrated than prior vintages. I'm not sure it is the finest I have ever tasted, but it boasts a dense purple color as well
as copious creme de cassis, cedar wood, underbrush, and spice notes. Beautiful opulence, silky tannins, and a long finish suggest this sleeper of the vintage will drink well for 2-3 decades. (Tasted once).

It has been a long time since wine was the reserved tipple of beret-wearing, baguette-touting French machos. If you had any doubt about this, one of the most brilliant successes of the vintage, Château Lanessan, was made by a woman, the talented Spanish oenologist Paz Espejo.
Complex bouquet of black cherry, blackcurrant, gingerbread, sandalwood and liquorice stick. Dense and smooth on the palate, magnificently tasty and very fresh. Very attractive fresh, blended tannins.
Paz Espejo, who took over the management of the Bouteiller family estates a few months ago, has modernised and brought new life into this wine with her first vintage. Well done!
16.5-17/20 - L'Express - June/July 2010
The excellent Lanessan 09, sports a tightly-wound nose that is well-defined with blackberry, plum and cedar, earthy notes coming through with time. This demonstrated much more sense of terroir than other Medoc 2009s.
The palate is full-bodied with good fruit concentration, fine balance with a rounded supple blackberry and cedar finish that retains médocian “typicité”. This is a great Lanessan that should drink well over 10-15 years.
